Trans-urethral Resection of the Prostate (TUPP) is a recommended mode of treatment of the urinary problems due to the prostate hyperplasia. It consists of a visual and surgical instrument that is inserted through the tip of the pennis into the urethra.

Especially, it is effective in men who do not respond well to medication helps to relieve mild to moderate symptoms. The resectoscope when inserted cauterizes the excess tissue, thus reducing the symptoms of difficult urination. It is one of the proven methods, but due to the development of much lesser invasive methods, it has been used to a lesser extent.

Continuous bladder irrigation (CBI)

The continuous bladder is usually done surgery of genitourinary tract. It is done to keep the bladder free from any kind of blood clots and sediments. It is done to administer medicine to the bladder. It a three-way irrigation closed system process, in which one lumen is used for the drainage of the urine, another used for the inflation of balloon catheter and third and the final lumen carries the solution, which is used for irrigation.

Bladder irrigation is a procedure in which a sterile fluid like 09% sodium chloride (NaCl is constantly irrigated via a three way catheter that is used to prevent clot. Prostate is vascular in nature hence, bleeding can be a major complication post operatively.
