Answer #1

Penicillin G Potassium 1000000 units and to reconstitute dilute with 1.8 mL of D5W to yield 500000 units per mL.

For yielding 1600000units 16 vials are needed . When each vial is diluted with 1.8ml of D5W is used .

For diluting 16vials ,(16* 1.8 ml ) 28.8 ml D5W is needed and resultant volume is 32 ml.

Displacement volume = Volume after reconstituition - Volume to be mixed

=2-1.8=0.2ml

The amount available after reconstitution is 2ml . Displacement values need to be considered when using part-vials of freeze-dried
injections that require reconstitution.
The displacement value is the volume of fluid displaced by the powder. So the volume occupied by the powder is 0.2ml

So the powder in 16 vials volume is (32-28.8) is 3.2 mg
