Injuries to muscles, joints, and bones are some of the most common situations encountered by First Aiders. Discuss the following assessment skills and care guidelines for sprains, strains, and fractures, including splinting in detail, and give examples of each.

Answer:- Assessment skills and care guidelines for sprains, strains, and fractures:--
(a) FRACTURES:- Bone may be completely broken or only cracked.
Closed fracture- skin not broken.
Open fracture- open wound at site.
Care guidelines:- Immobilize area (joints above and below).
- arrange transport
-Treat open wound.
- Apply RICE (Rest, immobile, compression, elevation)
Splint if there is delayed.

(b) SPRAIN:-
-Bones remain in place in joint but ligaments and other structures are injured.
Care guidelines:-
-Immobilize area
- Apply RICE
- use soft splint to immobilize joint.

(c) STRAIN:- Tearing of muscle or tendon.
-Occurs when muscle stretched too far by overexerting.
CARE GUIDELINES:-
- Apply RICE
- Keep an ice pack on area for 20 minutes.
