Answer #1

Given, k =19.6 N/m

m = 0.3 kg

Amplitude, A = 0.1 m

displacement of the mass is given by,

x(t) = A*cos(wt)

w = sqrt(k/m)

w = sqrt(19.6/0.3)

w = 8.083 rad/s

a) A = 0.1 m

b) velocity. v = -Aw*sin(wt) = -w*sqrt(A2 - x2)

vmax = Aw = 0.1*8.083 = 0.8083 m/s

c) v = -8.083*sqrt(0.12 - 0.052)

v = -0.7 m/s

-ve simply represents the direction of the velocity

d) Total energy is the kinetic energy when speed is maximum,

E = 0.5mvmax2 = 0.5*0.3*0.80832

E = 0.098 J

e) Time period of oscillation, T = 2\pi/w

T = 2*3.14/8.083

T = 0.777 s

f) f = 1/T = 1/0.777

f = 1.287 Hz
