Ames test is the bacterial test specially Salmonella typhimurium, to identify the carcinogens and mutagen changes from implantation of devices, drugs or chemicals.

Food and Drug Administration Department uses Ames test to screen many chemicals fastly and also with lesser costs.Those chemicals which are prone to be mutagenic were later tested on animals by FDA to assess the carcinogenicity.
