The Income statement shows the financial performance of an entity over a given period of time but the cash flow statement shows the movement of cash i.e outflows and inflows of cash in an entity over a given period of time. Hence, the income statement also considers non-cash items like depreciation and gain/loss from sale while computing profit, but in case of cash flow statement, as these do not affect cash, these items are ignored.
