Answer #1

1. The 4d subshell can occupy maximum 10 electrons because it has 5 orbitals and each can contain two electrons.

2. Electronic configuration of Al is 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p1.

3. Electronic configuration of Sulfur is 1s2 2s2 3p6 3s2 3p4.

4. In same group, there are same number of outer electrons in the atomic structure of elements of that group and thus have the same valency.

5. Boron element have three valence electrons which is shown by its electronic configuration i.e 1s2 2s2 2p1.

6. An ion is an atom or molecule which has a net electric charge which comes due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons.

7. option D is the most stable electronic configuration because it is a Noble gas configuration.

8. Because it is a noble gas configuration, it contains the maximum number of electrons in its valence shell.Hence, noble gases rearly react with other elements , that is why they are more stable.

9.Halogen family contains Fluorine, Chlorine, Bromine etc.

The electronic configuration of these elements contain one electron less than that of stable electronic configuration .

For example, Chlorine element form chloride ion by gain of an electron i.e Cl-.

Configuration of Chlorine is 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p5

Configuration of chloride ion is 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p6.

which is stable.
