Answer #1

C. May Be;

Reason: The IRS is a Revenue Agent or Auditor or Tax officer, whose job entails the determination of correct tax liability of Business Entities or Individuals and collection of already determined taxes.

It is not easy to say whether IRS is a fiend or not and particularly when you are a tax evader and you just receive a notice from the IRS. The Investigation process may result in potential loss of significant income or even cessation of property which obviously is not a friendly act. But, at the same time, we should not forget they are humans doing their job and that too in the public interest as a whole. Moreover, being responsible citizens we should do tax planning to save tax rather than tax evasion.

Therefore, it may be concluded by saying IRS maybe a friend or a foe and it all depends on whether you are a tax evader or a tax planner. If later is the answer then definitely a friend.
