1) Financial markets are markets in which funds are exchanged from people who have excess of funds to those people or entities who have shortage or less funds in hands. Example of financial systems being bonds markets, foreign exchange markets and stock markets where bonds and stocks are exchanged at a given traded market price between two entities. How well financial markets perform will have a direct impact on the individuals wealth, business behavior or performance and economic efficiency. Financial markets facilitate channeling of funds from parties who dont have any productive use of money to those entities who have productive usage of the funds. A well performing financial market would have strong regulations in place to make such transactions take place efficiently The reason being that if the regulations & frameworks are not strong that it may result in financial leakages. Financial leakages results in reductions in actual overall returns between two parties. If Regulations are strong & financial markets work well then, the entities who supplies funds would receive good returns on their investments thereby improving their wealth position. The entities who required funds for doing business would facilitate economic activity for the nation thereby facilitating good economic growth in the end. Therefore, we can infer that there is a direct link between a well performing financial markets & economic growth. One channel through which financial markets might affect economic growth & poverty is that of the debt markets.
