2) Heat gained by water:

q = m * cp * ΔT = 100 * 4.18 * 2.6 = 1086.8 J

3) Metal temperature change:

ΔT = 24.6 - 99.4 = - 74.8 ° C

4) Specific metal heat:

Cs = - q / m * ΔT = - 1086.8 / 20.94 * -74.8 = 0.694 J / g * ° C

B) Calculations are made:

Mol of salt:

n = g / MM = 5/119 = 0.042 mol

1) Temperature change:

ΔT = 18.1 - 25 = - 6.9 ° C

2) Heat absorbed:

q = 25 * 4.18 * - 6.9 = - 721.05 J

3) Salt heat exchange:

q = 5 * 0.439 * - 6.9 = - 15.15 J

4) Total heat change:

q total = - 721.05 - 15.15 = - 736.2 J

5) Enthalpy change:
