Concentration on the inside of a membrane: 4.00 u M = 0.004 mM

To calculate: The potential energy change

Therefore,

AG = RTin Xin/Xjout

where R=1.987 cal/(degreeK.mol), T=298 K

Substituting the values,

AG = 1.987 * 298 *In 5/0.004

AG= 4222.39 cal/mol

= 4.2 kcal/mol
