The initial Mannich reaction can be carried out with methylamine. This gives a more direct route to Prozac, but the Mannich condensation with methylamine is low yielding and produces several by-products. Suggest a reason for this.
Mannich reaction
Mannich reaction can be explained as
The formaldehyde functional group and primary or secondary amine
or ammonia will place an acidic proton which is obtained by
aminoalkylation, next to the carbonyl group. Here the Mannich base
is the final product -amino carbonyl
compound.
Mannich condensation with methylamine is low yielding and show several by products.
The reason is :
enamine intermediate formed is senstive to hydrolysis. So Separation and Purification is tedious. Separation process is enhanced by adding ether to the product. Low yield may be due to the loss occurance while separation and purification.
Obviously when the yield of main product is reduced, the formation of byproducts will enchanced.
The initial Mannich reaction can be carried out with methylamine. This gives a more direct route...

02 The rate of an enryme-catalysed reaction can be altered by the presence of an inhibitor An investigation was carried out into the effect t of an inhibitor on enzyme activity in barley root tips. Enzyme activity was measured by finding the rate at which oxygen was used by the root tips. Several groups of students carried out experiments in which the volume of oxygen used by root tips of harley seedlings was measured over...
WHEN 19-YEAR-OLD MICHAEL Dell began selling personal computers
out of his college dorm room in 1984, few would have bet on his
chances for success. In those days, most computer makers sold their
PCs through an extensive network of all-powerful distributors and
resellers. Even as the fledgling Dell Computer Corporation began to
grow, competitors and industry insiders scoffed at the concept of
mail-order computer marketing. PC buyers, they contended, needed
the kind of advice and hand-holding that only full-service channels...

With the increase in recreational and competitive cycling,
cyclists are experiencing more overuse inju- ries related to
repetitive loading. Both intrinsic and extrinsic factors contribute
to injury. Intrinsic fac- tors are inherent to the cyclist and
include fitness level as well as anatomical alignment of the lower
extremities. Extrinsic factors are generally asso- ciated with
factors external to the...

Grignard reagent THE GRIGNARD REAGENT-PREPARATION AND REACTION In this experiment, you will prepare a Grignard reagent, phenyl magnesium bromide, from bromobenzene and magnesium metal. The Grignard reagent will then react with methyl benzoate to form triphenylmethanol. Introduction Grignard reagents, such as organomagnesium halides, were discovered in 1910 by French chemist Victor Grignard. The Grignard reaction is one of the most general methods for carbon- carbon bond formation in all of organic chemistry....
TrueGrid manufactures the world’s strongest permeable paver. It’s a 100% permeable, which is an alternative to concrete and asphalt. It is permeable solution that allows the water to permeate through the surface and be detained below. It’s able to handle high traffic and heavy loads, so it can go from your drive way all the way to your high traffic 18 wheeler parking lots and everything in between. TrueGrid helps prevent flooding because the biggest reason is there is no...

10. Write a one-page summary of the attached paper? INTRODUCTION Many problems can develop in activated sludge operation that adversely affect effluent quality with origins in the engineering, hydraulic and microbiological components of the process. The real "heart" of the activated sludge system is the development and maintenance of a mixed microbial culture (activated sludge) that treats wastewater and which can be managed. One definition of a wastewater treatment plant operator is a "bug farmer", one who controls the aeration...
