Choose three (3) educational strategies and explain how you would use them to instruct clients with special needs.
Educational strategies plays a vital role in an individuals behaviour modification through learning process. Patients with special needs require a special attention to change their behaviour. The educational strategies must be chosen based on the development level of the clients whom the provider choose.
Few examples of patients who are in need of their special or complex needs are:
# downs syndrome
# learning disabilities
# autism
#alzheimers disease and so on
The above listed patients will lack few needs as of normal and they must be trained and mentored to carry out themselves, to achieve this we have to chose educational strategies or the instructional media which makes them learn faster and retain things for a longer period :
The 3 educational strategies which I wanted to include are:
# visual learning: visual teaching makes each person to be more attentive and interesting were they could see the things perceive, analyse synthesise and make them effective learner. For instance students with downs syndrome can be instructed with visual learning by using demonstrations, pictures and illustrations which also provides the effective interest in the other subject areas of the curriculum.
# the other usage of visual learning is that the individuals will be able to be at present understand the concept in an concrete way to meet the goals.
# visual aids when prepared, planned and implemented in the proper way the evaluation would be the best.
2) KINESTHETIC LEARNING: This type of learning is also called as hands on learning. This type of educational strategy helps patients with special needs especially autistics patients, blind patients. Here the individuals touch the object and feel it to describe the object were by helps them to understand and perceive things faster.
# this type of learning brings the reality to the clients were they could touch and feel to have the modification in their behaviour.
# this makes the clients to do it (redemonstrate what has been taught to them).
# the major boon is that it improves the motor skills, fosters the clients to carry out their physical needs, helps them improve their cognizance.
# this type of learning helps in optimisation of clients positivity.
# helps to cater the tactile communication skills
3)ROLE PLAY /PSYCHODRAMA
# this also is a teaching strategy which meets the special needs of patients with alzheimers, alcoholics, acute medical illnesses
# in the role play exact scenario will be played by the participants were it makes the patients to improve auditory, visual and kinesthetic skills.
# it helps the patients also to actively participate to actually understand the exact rationale of performing it.
# this becomes an effective means of communicating the message to the patients to make them realise and analyse things in a better way.
Thus lot of educational media's also be used for a single patient or single strategy for group of patients to meet their special needs.
