While competitors of Google such as Microsoft and Apple has declared dividends and returns cash to the investors via dividends, Google do not have a policy of regular dividends.

Thus this implies that the cash returned to the investors by Google is low and the price appreciation of Google's share is the only form of gains available to the investors. If Google starts paying regular dividends, it could be a huge source of additional income for the investors and might drive up the price of the share further.

Thus in dividend distribution, Google does lag behind as compared to its competitors.
