How many vertebrae does a giraffe have in its neck? Does this number seem unusual or does it make sense? Explain your answer.

Giraffe neck contains 7 cervical vertebrae, same the number as humans contain. But they differ from human vertebrae in terms of having elongated vertebrae. Each vertebra may be approximately 10 inches long. Therfore, the number of vertebrae in nothing unusual, But the unusual thing is the length of each vertebrae.

They used to acacia leaves from the top of six meter length trees. During evolution, the neck got extended. This even stands as a best example for "survival of fittest" theory.
