Mood disorder is a psychological problem where the patient experience either a depressive or manic episode where the patient experiences loss of energy and pressure in activities, delayed movements, guilty, lost feelings, loss of concentration, suicidal thoughts, loss of interest, weight loss and fatigue. The main treatment for this can be majorly support, psychotherapy as well as medication therapy Some of the medication therapy are • Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors • Tricyclic antidepressants • Atypical antidepressants • Selective serotonin A client who is in his early adulthood has suffered depression because of guilt as she was unable to protect his husband from accident. He was the one who was driving the car and her husband sitting just beside her was spot dead on an accident while she was driving. This guilt made her to ruin her relationships with their family members and with her own self. The episodes of aggressive behavior was not totally treated by the treatment due to patient's non- adherence to the regimen and inadequate duration of therapy. An effective nursing treatment to be given is a psychological support, communicative therapy, building up self-confidence and health education which really works and helps patient to be more open and helps in building relationship between nurse and client. I can tell this with my own experience Yes I feel this client was kept safe during treatment as there was a constant support from the family members and also sa fe therapeutic interventions like development of trust relationship, feedback, client orientation and education shows decreased vulnerability to depression.
