Answer #1

Calculation for finding the dose of rapid acting insulin:

From the given parameters HbA1C indicates she is diabetic.

FBS is within normal range.

ISF- Insulin Sensitivity Factor which is the amount of insulin reducing the amount of blood glucose. So here 1 unit of insulin will reduce 20 mg/dl.

ICR- Insulin to carbohydrate ratio which is the amount of insulin required to reduce the carbohydrate. So here 1 unit of insulin will act on 9 grams of carbohydrate.

She plans to take 63 g of carbohydrate. Her ICR is 9. Hence divide 63 by 9

63/9=7 . Insulin 7 units is enough to reduce 63 g of carbohydrate.

7 units of rapid acting insulin is the dosage.
