Ethical lapse is a mistake which can result in greater consequences in the future. Ethical lapse at the workplace can be occurred by many reasons. Ethical lapse can be occurred due to small reasons such as toilet paper, copy machine etc. Using the office supplies for the personal purposes can result in ethical lapse. Therefore, in a workplace there can be any reason for the ethical lapse. Being an owner or a manager of the business a person should implement the following ways to avoid the ethical lapses:

  • The business should have its code of conduct. It should be informed to all the employees in the concern.
  • Accountability should be fixed. If any lapses are noticed these should be immediately reported to the higher management.
  • Employees should be motivated and provided with the workshops where they can learn about the ethical behavior.
  • Policies should be implemented within the organization which should be followed by the employees.
  • The owner should himself take care of any ethical lapses occurred around him.
