Critical thinking is the judgement of an issue after objective analysis and evaluation. On the other hand, evidence-based practice is an interdisciplinary approach which integrates the following 3 principles - (i) evidence on whether and why a treatment works, (ii) clinical expertise for appropriate diagnosis, risk assessment and potential intervention, (iii) client handling.

Critical thinking is useful in nursing as it allows one to systematically and logically solve patient's problems and suggest creative and appropriate decisions. They help to better analyse, interpret, evaluate, explain and reason in a better and more efficient manner.

Critical thinking helps the nurses be prepared to support evidence based practice. As a result of this, satisfaction among the patients and quality of care increases. Nurses need to be trained in their routines, practices and descision making. This supports individualized, customised, streamlined and dynamic nursing.
