When an acid solution weighing 56.398 g was added to the tablet, carbon dioxide gas was released, producing a fizz. The resulting solution weighed 57.136 g. How many grams of carbon dioxide were produced?

Consider the general reaction between antacid and an acid,

Antacid + acid solution -----> Solution + CO2 (g)

The weights of respective solutions are as follows:-

Antacid + acid solution -----> Solution + CO2 (g)

0.943 g + 56.398 g -----> 57.136 g + CO2 (g)

By law of conservation of mass, total mass of reactant is equal to total mass of product. In product we need to find mass of CO2 gas. For this add the both mass of reactants and from this subtract the mass of solution.

Therefore, (0.943+56.398) g = 57.136 g + Mass of CO2 (g)

57.341 g = 57.136 g + Mass of CO2 (g)

Mass of CO2 (g) = (57.341 - 57.136) g

Mass of CO2 (g) = 0.205 g of CO2

Therefore carbon dioxide (CO2) produced in the reaction is 0.205 g.
