Mexcican migrants are more likely to experience in health status—both improvements and declines—Resulting in a decline in health for current migrants: compared with never migrants, the health of current migrants is much more likely to have declined since migration and not significantly have improved. Thus, it appears that the migration process itself experiences of the immediate post-migration period detrimentally affect Mexican immigrants’ health.

Compared to their documented counterparts, Undocumented Mexcian Immigrants (UMIs) are pervasively affected by Exploitation and vulnerability; physical, mental and emotional hardships; lower and uncertain wages, lower employment status, fewer kinship networks, less English proficiency, less education, and poorer housing; less health insurance coverage, access to care and quality of care a fear of deportation that prevents some from seeking medical care and the leading of secret lives.

The health status of Mexican Americans in general reflects their lack of health insurance and poor linkage to programs designed to serve them. Although they die of heart disease and cancer at rates comparable to the overall US population, they have higher mortality rates from diabetes, homicide, chronic liver disease, and human immune deficiency virus infection than the general population.
