Answer #1

There are total 4 types of quantum number which are

1. Principal quantum number (n)

2. Secondary quantum number(l)

3. Magnetic quantum number (ml)

4. Magnetic spin quantum number (ms)

Possible values of this quantum numbers can be calculated by following general rules

To calculate l , l \leq n-1. Therefore, all the values which are less than equal to n-1 are the possible values of l. It can not be negative.

To calculate ml , -l \leq ml\leq l. Thus, all the values between -l and l are the possible values of this quantum number.

Valuea of ms is always +1/2 or -1/2.

Here, n=4

According to the above rule, l= 0,1,2,3.

ml = 0, if l=0

ml = -1,0,1 if l=1

ml = -2,-1,0,1,2 if l=2

ml= -3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3 if l=3.
