Instructions: 1. Review the MS-DRGs in the table 2. Indicate whether each is Surgical or Medical and place an S or M in the Type column 3. Calculate the weighted average for each DRG Volume x RW- Weighted Average 4. Add up total volume (all of the numbers in the Volume column) 5. Add up the Weighted Average column 6. Divide the total Weighted Average by total volume. This is your Case Mix Index (CMI)
