The functional groups present are phenolic-OH group, methyl aryl ether, benzene ring and olefin. In the IR spectrum, look for the absorbances that corresponds to above functional groups.

Phenolic -OH stretching vibrations are observed as a strong, broad peak at around 3523cm^{-1}.

A low to medium intensity band at 994cm^{-1} represents vinyl (C=C of olefine) group.

The peaks in the region 1500 cm^{-1} to 1605 cm^{-1} represent aromatic benzene ring.

The peaks in the region 1121 cm^{-1} and 1264 cm^{-1} corresponds to methyl aryl ether.
