It looks like there are multiple parts to this question, but the only part/question I'm struggling with is setting of the matrix model.

Set up a matrix model for a bird species with two classes: juveniles and adults. 1) Assume that in any given year the juveniles only come from adults the previous year, and 2) The adults come from two sources: juveniles that mature and survive to become adults, and adults the previous year that survive and will still be adults the next year. The model will depend on 1) the mean number of juveniles produced per adult, 2) the probability that a juvenile this year survives to become an adult next year and 3) the probability that an adult this year survives (and thus remains an adult next year). To begin setting up the model you can use a diagram like the one on page 18 of the text as a starting point. Write out the model as a matrix times a vector and define everything. If 1) the mean number of juveniles produced per adult is 4, 2) the probability that a juvenile this year survives to become an adult next year is 0.1 and 3) the probability that an adult this year survives (and thus remains an adult next year) is 0.8 and there are 600 juveniles and 200 adults this year, how many juveniles and adults will there be next year? This kind of life history is common among song birds and not that different from the turtle example in class.
