1)The reaction is an acid-base reaction.

2)The acid is HCl and base is the carbonate ion(of CaCO3).

The reactant that is acting as base is CO3-2

3) %mass

From the stoichiometric eqution

2 mole Hcl react with 1 mol of carbonate

so

375.0mL x 0.150M /2 = mmol of Carbonate

=28.125 mmol

mass of CaCO3 in sample = mol x molar mass

=28.125x10-3 mol x100g/mol

= 2.8125 g

% percent = mass of CACO3 x100/ mass of sample

=2.8125gx100/3.20g

= 87.89%

    For the preparation and standardization of NaOH with KHP im supposed to boil water for 1hr and 30 min to remove CO2....the problem is that if I don't boil it for that long and (30 min) b/c of not enough time but I put the water I boiled for 1/2 hr aproximately into a NaOH bottle with a CO2 absorber and stored it there for a few days.
