1. The types of imaging services offered are general radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, interventional and angiographic special procedures, computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), skeletal, chest, genitourinary, gastrointestinal, and pediatric radiology.

Function of radiology department--

Your radiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating disease and injury, using medical imaging techniques such as x-rays, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography (PET), fusion imaging, and ultrasound.

2. Special training/ Education is required by employees--

Radiologist technicians complete an accredited associate's degree, bachelor's degree or certificate program in a related field of study. They are required to be licensed by most states, which usually includes completing the education requirements and passing an exam.

Radiology Degrees. Typically, a radiology technologist (or rad tech) has two to four years of schooling leading to an associate's or bachelor's degree in radiologic technology. Rad techs may also earn specialized certificates in areas such as CT or MRI.

3. Any special equipment used--

Computed tomography (CT), also known as a computerized axial tomography (CAT) scan, including CT angiography. Fluoroscopy, including upper GI and barium enema. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) Mammography.

  • A 3 tesla MRI scanner.
  • fMRI scanner.
  • Rotating anode X-ray tube.
  • X-ray guided cholecystectomy.
  • Mobile fluoroscopy machine.etc.

4.  Computers are an integral part of many activities within a Radiology Department. It is used fundamentally by different radiology modalities to acquire, process and post process imaging data. ... For a practicing Radiologist a working knowledge of computers is an advantageous skill, which when exploited, enhances workflow.
