a. Br2, Methanol. Bromine in methanol will give use desired product. First it will form brominium ion which will open up by methanol.

b. KMnO4, NaOH, cold condition. KMnO4 and NaOH will give us diol racimic product.

c. 1)BH3, THF 2) H2O2, NaOH. Hydroboration will happen on less substituted side and by treatment of hydrogen peroxide and sodium hydroxide we will get less substituted alcohol.

d. 1)Hg(OAc)2, H2O 2) NaBH4. Mercury acetate followed by reduction by sodium borohydride will give us more substituted alcohol.

e. Lindars catalyst, H2. Lindars catalyst in presence of hydrogen gas we will get alkene from alkyne.
