Vincent van Gogh and Sol Lewitt made use of lines in their artwork. The type and use of lines were different in both of their work and which makes them unique.
The lines used by Sol LeWitt were of mathematical terms, which made everything geometrical. Every line had a particular place in his art. Sol Le Witt's works were the colourful expression of his intelligence by using warm colours which boosted the recreational element in it. The lines used by him were careful, ruled and even. His works were not emotional elements, they were sole pieces of his intelligence. Wall Drawing by Sol LeWitt used analytic lines which were controlled, precise, mathematically rigorous, logically and rationally organized. Sol LeWitt liked to refer to his paintings as "sculptures". He used geometrical lines to make the paintings three dimensional and they look like they were just placed on a piece of paper.
On the other hand, Vincent van Gogh's paintings were the realization of his soul and the people can feel the excitement in his art. The lines used in van Gogh's artwork were choppy, anxious and agitated line works which turned his painting three dimensional. For example in his “Starry Night,” Van Gogh used sharp lines, which are loose and free. The lines placed in groups provided more flow to Van Gogh’s works and which can convey the mood to the people more easily. The appearance of his work was almost three dimensional by the use of peculiar lines. It was not made three dimensional.
