Typing The Answer Is Mandatory

Temperature is a measure of heat. More heat means that more energy is being produced. Consider the location of red and blue on the electromagnetic spectrum. Then hypothesize, based on how we see the colors of light, the reason that something that is red is considered hot, whereas something blue is considered cold.

Answer #1

Hi,

Hope you are doing well.

(Note: There is a slight correction required in your question, something that is blue is considered hot, whereas something red is considered cold.)

This explanation is very simple. We know that temperature is a measure of heat and as the temperature of a body increases, heat/energy of the body increases.

We know that Energy is directly proportional to the frequency of light/radiation (). Thus heat increases, frequency of light also increases. We know that according to electromagnetic spectrum, blue light has more frequency compared to red which has lesser frequency.

So higher the temperature, higher will be the heat/energy, higher will be the frequency of light emitted (blue) and vice-versa.

Absorption and transmission: When a photon of light hits a molecule of gas or a particle in the atmosphere, there are three possibilities: 1) it can be absorbed (the energy is converted to heat), 2) it can be reflected (it continues on but in a different direction), 3) or it can be transmitted. These processes determine our ability to see distant objects (such as the mountains around Los Angeles and Irvine) and the colors in the sky (such as blue...

(33%) Problem 3: Warm blooded animals are homeothermic that is, they maintain an approximately constant body temperature. (For humans it's about 37°C.) When they are in an environment that is below their optimum temperature, they use energy derived from chemical reactions within their bodies to warm them up. One of the ways that animals lose energy to their environment is through radiation. Every object emits electromagnetic radiation that depends on its temperature. For very hot objects like the sun, that...
