cofactors: cofactors are organic or inorganic molecules that are required for the activity of certain enzymes.

Example: Ca+2 , metal ions(Zn+2, Fe+2, Fe+3 etc)

Apoenzyme + cofactor = Holoenzyme

coenzymes: coenzymes are non protein organic molecules that may act as group transfer reagents. Hydrogen or electron or group of atoms may be transferred.

Example: NADH, Biotin, CoQ
