My subject is Nursing and my topic is falls in the Psychiatric unit. Based on how you will evaluate your EBP project, which independent and dependent variables do you need to collect? Why?

Evidence based practice refers to the problem solving approach used by the norse practitioner in clinical practice. The nurses utilizes the available evidence,consider patient preferences and make a decision in patient care. EBP improves patient outcome by implementing the best evidence. Before developing a evidence based practice process the nurse must identify the problem of interest, acquire relevant literature support, evaluate the reliability and validity of the tool, applying the results of EBP in daily practice.

Psychiatric nursing deals with the nursing care rendered to the patients suffering from mental illness. The nursing research done on psychiatric nursing are stress management,safety measure to protect patient from self inflicting injuries, crisis interventions. EBP helps psychiatric nurses to develop clinic expertise in patient care.

A study to assess the effectiveness of guided imagery technique to reduce the stress level among patients in psychiatric units.

The variables in research study are dynamic and varies periodically. The guided imagery is the independent variable that is an intervention provided by the researcher in order to reduce the stress level is a dependent variable. The stress level is assessed by the stress assessment scale and based on the intensity of stress level the researcher implements the intervention.
