Answer #1

Let the order of reaction is nth, then the rate of the reaction will be given as follows.

rate = k[C2H5Cl]n

where , k = rate constant

Step (1) Calculation for order of reaction.

using the given first data.

0.805×10-30M/s = k(0.100M)n .........(1)

Using the second data .

1.61×10-30M/s = k(0.200M)n ........(2)

By dividing equation 2 by equation 1.

{(1.61×10-30M/s)/(0.805×10-30 M/s)} = {k(0.200M)}n/{k(0.100M)}n

2 = [0.200M/0.100M]n

2 = (2)n

or

21= (2)n

on comparing both sides.

n = 1

Hence ,

Order of reaction = n = 1

.

Step(2) Calculation for rate constant.

Putting the value of n in equation number (1)

0.805×10-30M/s = k(0.100M)1

0.805×10-30M/s = k(0.100M)

k = (0.805×10-30M/s)/(0.100M)

k = 8.05×10-30/s

k = 8.05×10-30s-1

Hence,

unit of rate constant = s-1

k = 8.05×10-30
