- Focus of health education: Provides information that assists clients to understand options in making voluntary choices on issues that affect health.
Health Promotion:
- The science and art of helping people change their lifestyle to move towards a state of optimal health.
- Scope of Health Promotion:
1. Focus - refers to type of health issue
2. Strategies - how are the goals to be achieved
3. Outcome - what are the end results
- The Triad of health promotion:
1. Prevention
2. Health education
3. Health promotion
- Purpose:
It combines legal and fiscal controls, other regulations and policies aimed at the enhancement of good health & the prevention of ill health.
So to explain:
- Health education is most effective when used with health promotion strategies but health education is needed for proper health promotion.
