Communication and collaboration:

Communication is a must in patient care. But the use of appropriate communication in hospice care is a difficult approach. Communicating and collaborating with the patient and the families are very important for the patient with the choice of hospice care. Use of appropriate body language, therapeutic communication, rapport, caring, and sympathy is essential for hospice care and approach. Communication should be open, honest, and appropriate related to the patient's health. Communication should eliminate the fear and anxiety of the patient. Caregivers should have good listening skills and to respect and support the patient's wishes. Good conservation is the ultimate need of the patient than the treatment.

Ethical aspects:

Nurses have to respect the patient's wishes and at the same time should reflect the patient's belief in hospice care. Nurses have to listen properly and work on the legal aspects of living wills, advanced directives, and end-of-life care. Remove the misconceptions of families that not using life support devices doesn't mean the patient is not receiving the care. The nurse should speak with the patient and family members and their decision about the advanced directives and power of attorney. An ethical committee should also be involved in the decision making. In addition, ethical principles should be followed incompetent with the patient's decisions. Nurses can't advocacy for unethical or illegal wishes of the patient and should not encourage for that. Following ethical principle and at the same time treat accordingly to the patient's wishes is difficult in hospice care.
