Answer #1

Solution) X = 13 cm = 0.13 m

K = 410 N/m

m = 180 g = 0.180 kg

H = ?

Equating potential energy = Spring potential energy

PE = U

mgH = (1/2)(K)(x^2)

0.180×9.8×H = (1/2)(410)(0.13^2)

0.180×9.8×H = 3.46

H = (3.46)/(0.180×9.8)

H = 1.96 m

    A 28 g ball is shot from a spring gun whose spring has a force constant of 367 N/m. The spring can be compressed 3 cm. How high will the ball go if the gun is aimed vertically? The acceleration of gravity is 9.81 m/s 2 . Assume that at the end of the barrel, the spring’s displacement and the ball’s height are each zero. Answer in units of m.

    The spring of a spring gun has force constant k = 450 N/m and negligible mass. The spring is compressed 6.40 cm and a ball with mass 0.0270 kg is placed in the horizontal barrel against the compressed spring. The spring is then released, and the ball is propelled out the barrel of the gun. The barrel is 6.40 cm long, so the ball leaves the barrel at the same point that it loses contact with the spring. The gun...
