BNP (B-type natriuretic peptide) blood test measure the level of BNP in the blood. B-type natriuretic peptide, is a hormone secreted by cardiomyocytes of ventricles in response to stretching caused by increased ventricular blood volume. The level of BNP is helpful in the diagnosis of congestive heart failure. It helps the doctors to figure out whether a patient have cardiac failure or anything else producing similar kind of symptoms.
