Genetic engineering is the process by which an organism's genome can be modified using various biotechnology techniques.The process involves manipulating the DNA of an organism or transferring genes into an organism to create a new and improved version.

DNAsequences of certain organisms are inserted into different organisms or within the same organism to help us obtain desirable outcomes .It can be used to increase the disease resistance of organism, help animals produce extra hormones.Some of the most deadly and difficult diseases could be wiped out by use of genetic engineering.Ex.Cystic Fibrosis is a progressive and dangerous disease for which there is no known cure,could be completely cured with the help of selective genetic engineering.

It can be used to produced more tastier and nutritious food.Disease and drought resistance plants that require fewer environmental resources such as water and fertilizer.Their is less use of pesticides in genetically modified plants.It increases the increased supply of food with reduced cost and longer self life.It causes faster growing plants and animals.Medicinal foods that can be used as vaccines or other medicines.

Some people have expressed concern on genetically engineered foods can cause allergic reaction or toxicity.It has detrimental effect on our genetic diversity .The engineered organisms often dominate resulting in only a modified species over several generations ,reducing the diversity that is available.Genetic engineering can change specific traits,which could create human outcomes that are ethically questionable or easily abused.
