Barriers to health care in Ethiopia:

1. Ethiopian government couldnot concentrate on the health care sector when compared to its focus on battling with famine.

2. There are around 2000 health stations and around 142 health centers in Ethiopia but most of the facilities lack physicians to serve the community.

3. Women could not travel to a station which is very far away as transport facility is under developed.

4. Also women have to travel lone as incidence of rape and abduction is very high in Ethiopia.

5. Lack of physicians as they leave ethiopia to other countries for better income or they join private sectors.

6. Though Government increases the number of students but they are not able to meet the increasing demand of population.

7. There is 1 physician for every 42000 of people and 1 surgeon for every 1000000 of people as per 2009 survey.

8. Increasing number of students lead to compromised quality in teaching sector as the available resources are limited like for 30 students 1 cadaver to learn.

9. Damage to medical training is due to lack for instructors as the wage & incentives is very less.
