2.Ans :-

In carbon nanotube the hybridization of carbon is sp2, therefore one free electrons is present in its lattice structure.Like electrons which have energy levels, the lattice structure of carbon nanotube have also energy levels which are almost similar with metals. Due to the helps of these energy levels in the lattice structure of carbon nanotube, electrons can easily flow through conduction band and thus could act as a metal.

On the other hand electrons energy levels in metallic nanowires are lower than actual metallic structure and thus electrons cannot easily jumps to conduction band as metal do. Therefore, metallic nanowires behave like small bandgap semiconductor.
