Solution :

Given that,

x - 10

n - 44

Point estimate (\hat p) = x / n = 10/44 = 0.23

1 - \hat p = 1 - 0.23 = 0.77

Z\alpha/2 = 1.645

Margin of error = E = Z\alpha / 2 * \sqrt[\hat p * (1 - \hat p) / n]

= 1.645 * \sqrt[(0.23 * 0.77) / 44]

= 0.10

A 90% confidence interval for population proportion p is ,

\hat p - E < p < \hat p + E

0.23 - 0.10 < p < 0.23 + 0.10

0.13 < p < 0.33

The 90% confidence interval for the population proportion p is from 13 % to 33%

Yes. The result consistent with the 32% rate because it includes in confidence interval.
