In a Tactical police situation, provide an example of when verbal and nonverbal communication would be warranted and explain why.

A tactical police situation is one where there is threat of extreme violence or terrorism. In such a situation, the police has to use verbal and non verbal communication more effectively in order to curb the situation of violence. Verbal communication involves interrogating the information providers, victims, suspects and civilians. The police are supposed to modulate their tone and extent of severity in the voice while questioning these different entities. The terror suspects are to be dealt with sternly and probed to admit their crime. The victims must be communicated with compassionately yet clearly. Communication with others will have varying tones and methods depending on the agenda of interrogation. The nonverbal communication is in the form of authority of the police and the power of the uniform. The police are trained to use these non verbal symbolic forms of communication craftily while dealing with dangerous criminals.
