Yes , Mentor shaped my professional advancement in nursing. My mentor was my final year class teacher. She was a postgraduate in nursing with thorough practical experience in OBG nursing . She studied and worked in a community hospital where rural practice was an essential component. So she used to share her experiences and motivate us during the class.

She was one person who always motivated us to join the clinical side first, gain experience and independence and then take up teaching profession. During that time, our seniors after completing the course and internship, have all taken up teaching side. But because of her motivation and guidance our batch could take up clinical side after the degree course.

Though we studied in a huge Government hospital, with exposure to multiple and variety cases, the professional experience as an ICU nurse truly moulded us to be the best in the field. We gained confidence to face any patient and any clinical issues. Later while taking up teaching job, this clinical experience was actually the strength and base.

I took up teaching side, because I always loved that teaching part. Even now, I correlate those experiences and teach my students.

Our teacher used to mail us, motivate us and support us continuously. She felt really proud as all her students got settled with excellent jobs in different parts of the world.

As a mentor, I definitely will motivate those coming to my profession. Always I would like them to be the best in the clinical side and take up teaching, if they have a true passion for teaching.
