The brain volume starts to decreases greatly during the late adulthood, especially, the frontal lobes shrink. These changes are associated with reduced executive functioning and increased the irrelevant number of thoughts.

3). When did the concept of retirement first develop?

The concept of retirement was first created in 1881 by Otto von Bismarck (Prussia president), who first introduced financial support for elderly people in the society. This type of support was not there previously because people simply did not retire until then.

4). What are some of the characteristics of the brains of Alzheimer’s patients?

Alzheimer’s patients show cortical atrophy, loss of functional neurons in the temporal lobe (gyri and sulci), and parietal lobe. Some of the regions in the frontal cortex and cingulate gyrus are also affected in Alzheimer’s patients. The reduced acetylcholine levels are also associated with Alzheimer’s disease symptoms.
