ANS) There are mainly two major types of emergency contraception that are available in the US.They are Emergency Contraceptive pills(ECPs) and also the copper T intrauterine device.

The ECPs contains only the progestin and many of the investigations has described that the pills comprising levonorgestrel are beneficial when used within the initial 3 days next to unsafe sex and are not beneficial thereafter.The ulipristal acetate pill a very beneficial oral emergency contraceptive at the time when used within the initial 5 days after the unsafe sex.

The Copper T IUD is usually placed within 5 days after a unsafe sex.The Copper T IUD is a T shaped tool which is inserted in the uterus with the help of a doctor.

- The Emergency Contraception is a method to avoid the pregnancy after completing a unsafe sex.And we can say that the emergency contraceptive pills can be used upto five days after completing a unsafe sex.And several emergency contraception do their duty very clearly when used with in seventy two hours after completing the unprotected sex.

- Normally the emergency contraceptive pills do their duty by holding up the ovulation.But in case if the fertilization and implantation have occurred already,then the ECPs cannot obstruct the pregnancy.
