A. Culturally sensitive nursing care means taking into consideration and giving importance to the cultural beliefs, values and practices of the patient without any discrimination. Nursing is one of those professions where we have to deal with many number of people on daily basis. People come from various origins and cultures. So it is necessary for the attending nurses to have an idea and neutral approach to people from different cultural groups. This can help us to provide better care to the patients by providing treatment which is suitable to his/her cultural beliefs.
B. In this modern world of different diverse cultures, it is important to understand cultural assimilation. This is because no two cultures are the same. They vary in their beliefs, values, practices and sentiments. So, one from of care which is considered okay in one culture may not be appropriate in others. This could lead to unwanted complications. By assimilation of various cultures, we can provide the care which is more acceptable to the patient with regards to his culture and beliefs. This small action creates belief and trust for the patient on the health care professional and reduces hesitation. This makes him/her believe that we genuinely care for him and makes him cooperate well. This patient compliance help us deliver care better and in a smooth fashion without much hurdles. This could encourage better care from the nursing community.
