A final hardness from a softener is 50 mg/L as CacOs. The water softener contains a total 20 m3 ofion-exchange resin that has an exchange capacity of 65 kg of hardness as CaCO; per m resin. The hardness removal efficiency of the softener is 95%. The occupants use 300 mld of water. 1) How much water should be bypassed (in m/d)? 2) What is the breakthrough time, time between the regeneration cycle (in hrs)?
