For Occupation A, At equilibrium,

LD = LA

20 – W = –1.25 + 0.5 W

21.25 = 1.5W

$14.17 = W

For occupation B, equilibrium

LD = LB

20 – W = −0.5 + 0.6 W

20.5 = 1.6 W

$12.81 = W

The compensating wage differential = W in occupation A - W in occupation B

($14.17 − $12.81) = $1.36 per hour
