The answer is NO. The terms 'Event' and 'Sample point' are not synonyms.

Synonyms are different words that have same meanings and can be used interchangeably.

However, there is a noticible difference between an 'event' and a 'sample point'.

So far as the Statistics is concerned, the 'population' (or Sample space) refers to the set of all possible outcomes of an experiments. Each outcome is called a Sample Point.

On the other hand, an "Event" is a sub-set of a sample space.
