The goals should be prioritised according to the needs of the patient. Maslow's hierarchy of needs is the basic theory which is used to prioritise the needs of the patient.

In this case the needs are prioritised in the following order :-

B) Helping the man understand the benefits of adhering to treatment and consequences of nonadherence .

C) Facilitating as early as a discharge as possible while simultaneously ensuring patient safety.

D) Taking measures to extend the patient's life expectancy as long as possible .

A) Helping the man to return the roles that he has in his life .
